Good morning, I hope that you’re feeling fresh, and that - wherever you are - the weather is the perfect mix of deliciously cool air and comfortingly warm sunshine.

What a week it has been, staring out especially grim with a hate speech-ridden, dog-whistling immigration policy speech from Australia’s opposition leader, and ending on a high after a NSW court ruled Chris Minns’ controversial anti-protest law to be unconstitutional. In such times of horror, it’s nice to see democracy working as intended. But there’s still plenty more to be done to claw back the civil liberties that state and federal governments have worked hard to unwind.
