President Joe Biden has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the democratic nominee. The decision came after intense, prolonged pressure to step down from within the party and from some of Biden’s closest allies.

Kamala Harris has confirmed she will seek the nomination.

Trump has told CNN, “Harris will be easier to beat than Joe Biden would have been.”

Democrats raised more than US$5 million in the hour following his announcement, made while the 81-year-old was inside with COVID-19. I just read in coverage from the New York Times that ActBlue, the leading site processing Democratic donations, has confirmed more than US$30 million was raised on Sunday (US time) with hours left in the day.

Now, the real election campaign begins.
